Hermes Solenoid
Precision Hermetic Solenoids for Reliable Electromagnetic Actuation
Built to Endure
Hermes Solenoid, operated by The Hermit, LLC, has been producing hand-wound hermetic solenoids for clients who require reliable motion within sealed environments. What began as a custom solution for a laboratory apparatus evolved into a family-operated manufacturer trusted by semiconductor fabricators, vacuum-system integrators, restoration specialists, and research institutions across thirty-one countries. Every unit is wound by hand, vacuum-potted in-house, and tested against a brass reference standard maintained since the company’s founding.
Our work exists where ordinary actuation fails — at the boundary between motion and containment. We specialize in precision electromagnetic actuators engineered for vacuum, cryogenic, corrosive-media, and high-purity gas applications. Unlike modern mass-production facilities, we do not subcontract winding, sealing, or final inspection. Each solenoid is calibrated to client specifications, pressure-tested individually, and shipped with a hand-signed test card that reflects our commitment to accountability, craftsmanship, and longevity.
Hermes Solenoid provides custom-engineered hermetic actuation solutions for laboratory, industrial, restoration, and specialized private applications.
From prototype development to refurbishment of legacy units, every assembly is crafted with uncompromising attention to performance, sealing integrity, and operational lifespan. Our Services:
Custom Hermetic Solenoid Engineering
We design and manufacture hermetically sealed solenoids tailored to client-specific operational requirements, including custom actuation curves, environmental tolerances, and dimensional constraints. Every coil is wound in-house using precision techniques developed through decades of bench experience, ensuring consistent performance in vacuum and corrosive-media environments.
Advanced Coil Winding & Calibration
Our shop specializes in bifilar and caduceus-pattern coil assemblies that few manufacturers still produce by hand. Each assembly is vacuum encapsulated, pressure-tested, and calibrated against physical reference standards to ensure dependable electromagnetic performance under demanding operating conditions.
Refurbishment & Prototype Development
Hermes Solenoid restores and re-seals aging or discontinued units for clients maintaining legacy systems and specialized instrumentation. We also provide short-run prototyping for laboratory equipment, restoration projects, and highly specialized applications requiring rapid iteration and precise engineering support.
